Used to prevent upper respiratory obstruction caused by tongue contact with the palate or attachment to the posterior pharyngeal wall;
The oral smoke airway can be used as a dental pad to prevent the endotracheal tube inserted in the mouth from being bitten;
The oropharyngeal airway can assist in oropharyngeal suction,
Assist in inserting tubes into the oropharynx and stomach;
Convenient for emergency ventilation, postoperative resuscitation, and prevent subsequent tongue root
Selection method:
The length of the oropharyngeal airway: equivalent to the distance from the incisor to the mandibular angle of the earlobe
The width of the oropharyngeal airway: it is appropriate to be able to contact 2-3 teeth of the upper and lower stools
Suitable oropharyngeal passage: its end is located in the upper pharynx, and the root of the tongue is separated from the posterior wall of the oropharynx
Safe selection method:
It is better to be long than short, and larger than smaller. If the oropharyngeal airway is too short, it cannot pass through the root of the tongue and cannot play the role of opening the airway. If it is too small, it is easy to enter the trachea by mistake
Scope of application: 1. Patients who need assistance with oropharyngeal suction
2. Patients who need intubation with oropharyngeal airway guidance,
3. Not suitable for: Patients with a high risk of fracture or loss of the first 4 teeth.
