INSPECT nose and nasal passages for obstructions preventing insertion of NPA

OPEN the outer wrapper of thenasal airway

EXPOSE opening of casualty’s rightnostril by pushing the tip of the noseupward gently (“piggy the nose”)

POSITlON tube so that the beveled(open) end faces toward the septum(the strip of skin separating thenostrils)

INSERT NPA device into the rightnostril (at a 90-degree angle to thecasualty’s face)

POSITlON casualty in either asitting or recovery position
